SMC Heritage are proud to present what we firmly believe to be the best Vauxhall Corsa Artic Edition for sale anywhere on earth. This incredible low mileage “as new” example is car number #1 of the strictly limited 500 production run. With just one owner and 8900 miles from new.
Corsa VXR Background:
Only 500 of this Limited Edition Corsa VXR Arctic were built. Each individually numbered model came with exclusive all-white paint finish, gloss black 18-inch V-spoke alloys, black VXR door mirrors, dark tinted rear glass and electric glass sunroof - all never seen before on VXR models.
With bold good looks came effortless performance. The 192PS, 1.6-litre turbocharged engine reached 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 140mph. Add in the throaty roar of the Remus Sports Exhaust system. A car as cool as ice.
There’s nothing subtle about the Corsa VXR, and the Arctic Edition takes it a step further! The white paint and black alloys turn heads, as does the race car exhaust…
With its frenetic turbocharged engine, the Corsa VXR always had a reputation for being the wildest car in its class. Even so, Vauxhall has upped the ante with a white-hot limited-run model, called the Arctic Edition. And with only 500 examples to be produced, it’s as rare as a polar bear in spring.
Those who aren’t keen on the standard car’s in-your-face looks are unlikely to warm to the Arctic’s monochrome colour scheme. This styling doesn’t just grab your attention; it slaps you around the cheeks. The Glacier white paintwork is highlighted by gloss-black 18-inch V-spoke alloys, plus a black roof and wing mirrors. Elsewhere, it’s the usual VXR combination of bulging side sills, a deep front apron and prominent rear boot spoiler.
If the bold exterior doesn’t get you noticed, the noise from the Remus sports exhaust will. Developed by Triple Eight Engineering, the team behind Vauxhall’s British Touring Car Championship racers, the system gives a low rumble at idle that builds to a snarl on full throttle, with pops and bangs on the overrun .….. the Recaro bucket seats provide just the right amount of support in corners and prove surprisingly comfortable on long trips.
Put your foot down and the 1.6-litre engine responds immediately, with lots of power available from low revs. And while the extra bhp unleashed by the exhaust doesn’t improve the Corsa’s performance, that soundtrack certainly impresses. A quick, direct steering rack sees the model dive eagerly into corners, but any more than half-throttle when exiting them will overwhelm the front wheels. The Corsa VXR remains a love it or hate it kind of car, but the Arctic Edition has clearly added even more excitement.
Car #1 was supplied new on the 23rd December 2008 by Forest Gate Vauxhall of Market Harborough baring the cherished registration X5 RUT, quite the Christmas gift! The purchaser Mr Rutter had specified the following factory options over and above the already high Arctic Edition Spec:
CD60 Navigation £829.79
Electric Climate Control £234.04
Rain Sensing Wipers £212.77
Rear Parking Sensors £212.77
Sight and Light Pack £148.94
Such was Mr Rutter’s attention to detail he kept the invoices, old MOTs and even DVLA tax reminders from Day 1. We even have the original vehicle invoice on file dated 16/12/08.
As car #1 and having covered such incredibly low miles supported by a fully documented ownership and service record this really is as good as it gets for both Vauxhall enthusiasts and modern classic investors alike. The car is supplied with all booklets and instructions in the original book pack and even the original sales invoice. All keys are still present along with the supplying dealer key ring and the factory Key data tag.
The Glacier white paint is incredible with a deep glossy shine. The body is totally free from dents and stone chips and the panel gaps are even and totally original. The wheels are totally original and unmarked as our the distinctive blue calipers . All badges, glass and trim are original and unmarked. This car has always been cosseted and it absolutely shows.
Perhaps even more remarkable than the incredible condition of the paint work and trim is the underside of the vehicle. It could easily have just rolled straight off the factory floor, with factory wax and markings still in place it is an incredible testament to the care this VXR has received.
The interior is a fabulous place to reside with factory black half leather Recaros, a smattering of alloy vxr goodies and a large glass sunroof. The heater vents in body colour and #1 build plaque verify its limited edition status. The seats, carpets, mats and every piece of trim are absolutely factory fresh even the metal gearknob is totally unmarked. It even smells new
On the Road:
Perhaps unsparingly given the incredible mileage it drives with a time warp taught fluidity you that you could only find with a low mileage perfectly maintained example. The VXR boasts 192ps giving a respectable claimed 0-60mph time of 6.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 140mph – not bad for a super mini!. Where the Arctic truly stands proud from the rest of the corsa VXR range is the noise from the factory fit Remus exhaust. It offers a superb driving experience that many modern and often vastly more powerful cars simply cannot replicate. At the time Car Magazine described it as:
Ridiculously entertaining fun
In incredible condition and with just 8900 miles documented this really is as new and offers a fantastic entry in to modern classic ownership as either a depreciation proof low mileage daily driver, a weekend toy to polish, show and enjoy or perhaps most likely a solid investment piece to add to your collection,
If you are looking for the very best example of a truly ground breaking super mini hyper hatch or just looking for a shrewd future classic investment then you need to see this car.
The vehicle will be MOT’d and fully service by SMC Heritage prior to collection for complete peace of mind
