SMC Heritage are proud to present this incredibly special last of the line 2008 Honda S2000 GT with just 1 retired owner for the last 11 years that has covered just 14,000 miles.
In these days of forced induction and twin-clutch transmissions, the S2000’s specification reads like the stuff of dreams. You’ll struggle to find anything close to its absolute banshee of a naturally aspirated four-cylinder motor, with its stratospheric red line and scarcely believable specific output. Let alone one mated to a six-speed manual transmission that, as any car bore will tell you, is an all-time benchmark for the stick-shift.
The vital stats remain exceptional: 237bhp at 8300rpm from 1997cc. In Japan, where the F20C engine ran with a higher compression ratio (11.7:1 compared with 11.0:1) it gave 10bhp more for a world-beating specific output of 124bhp per litre. And all without the aid of turbo- or supercharging. Red line? 8800rpm. Rev limiter? 9000rpm. Back in 1999 this was the exclusive realm of supercars.
The classic front-engine, rear-drive sports car recipe was one we had grown used to Mazda owning with the MX-5, so when Honda muscled in with a considerably more potent and advanced interpretation to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary, we really sat up and took notice: its promise was considerable and compelling. The wrapping wasn’t half bad either – a sharp dagger of a profile with aquiline features that borrowed little from existing rivals but didn’t try too hard. It’s still a handsome car today ……
Evo – Icons Series
Built in 2008 to UK Specification it was registered on 5th March 2008 by Brindley Honda of West Bromwich as their static demonstrator. Shortly after with just 25 miles on the clock the vehicle was sold to a long-term performance Honda collector who would go on to keep the car to this very day. Post collection as an Automotive engineer of some regard, he would maintain the vehicle to his own exacting standards including changing the oil every 1000 miles as a minimum.
With a long-term mature owner and a diligent, hands on maintenance history it really is as good as it gets. The car is supplied with all booklets and instructions in the original soft leather book pack including factory security cards and even a Sales advisors business card. We have a file of invoices including old MOTs and even the original pdi check sheets. All keys are present as are the tools and even the hardtop mount and cover. The vehicle still bares the original dealer plates and stickers
The synchro silver paint work is in fantastic order throughout with perfect factory shut lines and a deep glossy finish. The genuine Honda GT front and rear spoilers are still present and totally undamaged. The OEM alloys are fitted with hardly worn matching Pirelli P Zeros. The hard and soft tops are both in perfect condition the later has hardly ever been used. This really is a cosseted time warp car
The interior is a fabulous place to reside with the perfect black leather perfectly co-ordinating with the stunning exterior colour. The seats have been protected from new by tailored Honda seat covers and it really shows. All the switch gear is in perfect working order and the leather and carpets are unmarked. Pleasingly the original Audio system is still present. The digital dash is in in perfect working order and offers a wonderful Tokyo by night period feel. The boot area is effectively unused with absolutely no signs of loading damage or wear whatsoever.
Underneath and under the bonnet:
Perhaps even more remarkable than the incredible condition of the paint work and trim is the underside of the vehicle. As a long-term Honda owner, his affinity stretches back to the haloed S800 he was well aware of the limitations of the factory rustproofing. As such, on purchase he set about future proofing the underside of the vehicle. The whole underside including any cavities where treated with Diniltrol to keep it as good as new. The engine bay is equally impressive, totally standard and spotlessly clean. Incredibly even the often faded and flaking rocker cover is perfect and still bares its factory red distinctive crinkle finish with testament to the care this S2000 has received.
With just 14,000 miles, one long term fastidious engineer owner and an incredibly low yet verified Mileage this vehicle really stands out amongst its often thrashed and previously damaged peers. Its condition is best described as time warp. The exterior and interior are quite simply superb.
On the road this S200 drives with all the smoothness and fluidity you that you only find with the lowest mileage and perfectly maintained examples.
Evo magazine pitted the S2000 against the Porsche Boxster, TVR Griffith and Lotus Elise, hallowed company all round. It really is easy to see why contemporary road tests rated the S2000 so highly and why they are now so revered in the modern classic market place.
If you are looking for the very best, most attractive and original example of this legendary roadster you need to see this car.
Prior to collection the vehicle will undergone a full Service, Health Check and MOT for complete peace of mind of the lucky new owner
